In the book called ‘The ABC’s of LGBT+’, the author says that you can explain sex as you like as the notion is so profound and diverse.
The book explains so many terms about sex (which contains gender, sexuality and biological sex):
- Maverique
- Novosexual
- Gender-flux
- Zedsexual
- Polyamory
- Questioning
… and so on.
No wonder `LGBT+’ includes ‘+’, it’s… soooooooo diverse!!
I understand the importance of such labeling.
I felt like the sky has perched when I discovered I am ‘pansexual’.
Labelling supports us to understand ourselves and make others know ourselves.
Also, broad terms like ‘LGBT+’ enables us to unite and cooperate.
However, the issue is, it is really difficult to explain.
For example, if someone asks me ‘what is gender?’, they won’t expect me to explain every gender for them like ‘this is what male/female means… and this is what non-binary means… and then there is the notion of gender-fluid that means…’. (What is more, as these terms originate from English, many Japanese people have difficulties with understanding them.)
So… I need other explanations… my original explanations.
First, I thought maybe I can explain that sex is like a compass.
But, then I thought: as there is no clear ‘destination’, it doesn’t make sense.
Second, I thought maybe I can explain that sex is like a cooking recipe.
We make cooking recipes considering diverse foods and techniques.
And everyone has their own recipe.
It was then I decided to start this blog.
As I love cooking, and we Japanese are known as cooking-lovers, I believe I can explain the complex notion of sex better through analogy of cooking.
So… please take a seat and enjoy the meal!
Hope recipes we provide help you make your own recipe 🙂

Thank you so much!
I would like to express my idea both in Japanese and English equally. I will try harder!!
